Scanalytics’ IPLab for Macintosh Is The Value Leader in General Purpose Imaging

New release provides enhanced device support, improved functionality and new image enhancement commands

(FAIRFAX, VA − February 14, 2000) Scanalytics Inc. has once again improved its highly acclaimed IPLab for Macintosh program. Designed with the investigator in mind, Scanalytics’ IPLab/Mac v. 3.5 offers new and refined scripting, image analysis, and quantitation commands. With IPLab/Mac, users can solve numerous image processing problems directly out of the box, such as microarray technologies, fluorescence microscopy, 3D-image deconvolution, ratio and time lapse imaging, and FISH.

New Features in IPLab/Mac v3.5.
IPLab/Mac v.3.5 provides enhanced image processing, annotation, image analysis and mathematical operations. New features include: easier scripting functions for rapid automation and implementation of user-defined protocols, an updated crop command for simplified cropping of current regions of interest, and a new normalization utility that simplifies contrast enhancement on all data types for enhanced flexibility. Updated image analysis features contain a powerful segmentation function that allows users to easily segment images and a white balance command to modify the white balance on a color image interactively.

IPLab/Mac v.3.5 is now bundled with basic 3D reconstruction and projection software for added function and value. This tool includes 3D deblurring and rendering capabilities, and, combined with a Z-axis control system, gives users complete three-dimensional image acquisition, processing and visualization capabilities in a unified software environment.

In addition to support for a wide variety of digital cameras, microscopes, and external hardware devices, IPLab/Mac v.3.5 now controls Olympus AX70/AX80 motorized microscopes, Hamamatsu Orca 2 digital cameras and the SMD line of digital cameras from Silicon Mountain Design. Improved capabilities for the Spot family of cameras from Cooke and the Hamamatsu Orca digital camera are also included. By integrating image acquisition and external device control with IPLab’s highly regarded scripting and quantitative abilities, Scanalytics provides users with value-added imaging solutions for a wide range of biotechnology applications.

IPLab is available on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Both versions are currently priced at $2,995, and application-specific extensions are available at additional cost.
