Scanalytics Updates IPLab for Windows to v2.3
(FAIRFAX, VA- December 14, 1998) Scanalytics Inc. is pleased to announce its newest IPLab For Windows scientific image processing software version 2.3. Developed for Windows 95/98 and NT, IPLab For Windows is software used for image acquisition, enhancement, visualization, and analysis. Scanalytics' newest version of IPLab For Windows introduces commands which will enhance users' abilities to perform 3D imaging, time lapse experiments, and particle measurement.
New Features in IPLab v2.3
IPLab For Windows v2.3 now contains a series of functions to control and interact with cameras and microscope equipment more easily and accurately. The new 3D Multispectral Acquire command gives a single unified command for controlling cameras, filter wheels, shutters and focus motors to grab images in 3D at multiple wavelengths. This command requires the Shutters & Filters extension and a supported hardware device.
Now users can plug in most popular cameras and microscope control equipment, and start doing multiple fluorescence 3D experiments right away. Applications include FISH (Fluorescence in situ Hybridization), GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein), and live whole cell studies. The resulting output files can then be modified with Scanalytics' EPR (Exhaustive Photon Reassignment) 3D deconvolution software or the HazeBuster and MicroTome 3D image deconvolution programs developed by Vaytek, Inc.
IPLab For Windows' new Set Measurements command allows users to select from a list of various shape, size and density measurements just those parameters which they want to measure on each particle. This option also enables users to accept or reject particles according to some parameter such as size or intensity.
The new Quantify Segments function lets users count the total number of particles in an image and summarizes the measurements on those particles, including area as a percentage of a selected Region of Interest. To calibrate the units used to measure these particles, users can apply the new Define and Set Units command to determine distances and perform measurements in length units of their choice.
IPLab For Windows v2.3. also provides users with another option for saving and viewing their data. The new Sequence to Frames and Frames to Sequence commands allow for file interchange of time lapse and 3D data files between IPLab and other image manipulation programs.
IPLab For Windows v2.3. now gives scientists the opportunity to perform time lapse experiments and create movies to share with colleagues. The new Export as Movie command allows users to save a sequence of images in a standard movie format which can be played back by a number of Windows 95 movie viewers. This way, scientists can combine a series of experiments into a realistic movie suitable for presentation or posting on the web.
The price of basic IPLab For Windows v2.3. is $1,800. The Shutters & Filters extension is $500. Other software extension modules are priced separately.
